In the seven years that I’ve been posting this blog, I have never made a political endorsement. This post is a first. I am endorsing Steve Campbell in his campaign for reelection as county assessor.

Steve Campbell first became county assessor in 2024. Since then, he has made dramatic improvements in the way that the county assessor’s office published land parcel information online. Check out the website and see for yourself: https://oklmrecords.com/washington/map/

As a lawyer, I often access county assessor records online. The improvements made to the website, under Mr. Campbell’s watch, have made my job a lot easier. Mr. Campbell's initiative, in improving the assessor's website, shows that he is a leader who sees what needs to be improved, and does what he can to improve them. This is the kind of person that we want in office.

This June 16, there will be an election for county assessor. Steve Campbell will be on the ballot; he is running for reelection. If elected, he will serve a four-year term. I would urge all of you to go and vote for Steve Campbell.

The county assessor’s job is to appraise property in the county to determine how much property tax is owed on all property. For more information on the county assessor’s office, and the duties and role of the county assessor, click here: https://washingtoncountyok.gov/assessor
